threads is a digital storytelling project exploring the complexity of safety in Cork from a feminist perspective. Public space is not experienced equally; who we are shapes how we move, where we feel welcome, and where we hesitate. This project traces personal experiences of safety and unease, mapping them onto the city to make the invisible more tangible.
Developed as part of the Redesigning the Postindustrial City project, this work was created in collaboration with University College Cork and built through the shared experiences of many. Most importantly, it exists because of the women and diverse voices who contributed their stories - this project belongs to them.
Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences, insights, and time. This is not a finished map. It is an ongoing conversation. If you'd like to add your story, you can do so here.
